In Our Spot Light

Baby Milo has been ADOPTED!

6/14/08

Hi everyone my name is Milo and I was flown to the Angels by a great man from a vet clinic.

I am 8   m/o. When I was 3 months old I got into some paint and ate it.  It affected my liver and the dogter worked real hard to clean the paint out of me.  I got better but not totally.  Now the dogters think I have a liver shunt and need a big surgery.  I am going to MedVet this week to talk to the dogter there.  Everyone is praying that it's the paint causing my bile acid to be high.  If I need surgery it will cost the Angels nearly $3000.00, the pre-testing will be at least a $1000.00.   If you could help the Angels with my bills so that I can get well and find my forever home real quick it would make me very happy.

They have delayed his surgery because he starting crashing this morning.  He has aspiration pneumonia. Once he is stabilized, it will be 3 weeks before they can do surgery. By evening he is showing improvement.

Milo stabilized, but the surgeon wanted to wait a couple weeks before doing the LS surgery.  We brought Milo home.

Saturday morning I found Milo crashing.  I called the vet and took him right in.  Milo's blood sugar was 39 which is really low. Milo came home with his IV's running and meds.  He  looked a little better but  he blew his IV line and then started look worse.  Milo started looking worse to the point I thought he was going to die.  I called the vet and was getting the other dogs crated so I could leave.  Milo went into seizures.  The vet was doing surgery on a cow and was going to call in back up vet.  We decided I could almost be back to Columbus before all this was done.  Milo and I left for Columbus at 7:30 p.m.   He had several seizures along the way.  I prayed and talked to him the whole trip.  When they examined him, they said it wasn't his blood sugar it was his shunt that was causing the problems. Milo was awake when I left and knew who I was. He's doing better today but won't be out of the woods until the surgery is over.

His bills are increasing by the day.  Won’t you please dig deep and help us.  We do not have the funds right now at all to pay for this.  He is the sweetest little boy, help us help him, please. Thank you so much.

Milo has very much improved.  He no longer has an IV and his blood sugar is staying stable with food.  The dogter took a chest x-ray today and his pneumonia is looking better.  She will do another x-ray on Thursday or Friday and if it looks good his surgery will be done that day.  If they can't do his surgery he will come home until his lungs are clear. He is now out of the ICU into a step down unit.  I got to take him outside to play for a while.  Milo was very happy to see me.  His bill as of today is $3500.00 and he has not even had his surgery yet.  Please help Milo.

Milo is doing great today and going to surgery in the morning.  Please keep him in your prayers.

6/27/08

The surgery is over and he's holding his own. The shunt was huge. We are praying everything works as planned now. As soon as he eats and drinks, we will be able to bring him home.

6/28/08

Everything is going as planned as far as the surgery goes. He still had no interest in eating. They were going to slow down his IV to try and make him hungrier. When he is eating well he can come home.

7/1/08

Milo has been home for 2 days and so far doing well. He's not happy with being in his crate, he loves going outside for his walks.  He has had some nausea but no vomiting. His dogter said to stop one of his medicines.

Well, people what do you think of my new look? My hair was full of that sticky, sweet stuff Mom gives me twice a day and Mom said this is it. Out came the clippers and my hair is gone. Mom said my legs look like a poodle where they shaved me for my IVs. I am feeling really good and eating real well. I have gained almost a pound even with all my staples removed.

If you could keep that money coming in to help the Angels pay my bills that would be great. My care will continue for a while. I still need special food and more tests in the future. To those of you that have helped THANK YOU from the bottom of my liver. I love you all.

Here I am 8 weeks after my surgery.  I am growing taller and gaining weight. I am almost 8 lbs.  Mom said I am a happy go lucky little guy whatever that means.  I like playing with the other puppies here, running around outside, going for car rides and sleeping when I want to not because I have to.

In a couple weeks I go for my blood test to make sure my surgery worked.  I do not understand why they want to do that, just look at me and you can see it did.  You know, I really hate needles I was poked a lot before maybe I can talk them out of the test.

Thank you to everyone that has sent money to help the Angels pay my bills. Mom said they still need a lot more.  If you can help clink on my donate button.

Talk to you real soon,

Milo
